Governor Ricardo Rosselló highlights the five objectives of the Agenda for Puerto Rico during his third Message on the Situation of the State

(April 24, 2019 - La Fortaleza, San Juan) Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rosselló offered today his third Message on the Situation of the State, in which he highlighted the five transformation objectives that define the Agenda for Puerto Rico.

During his speech, the chief executive explained the need of an agenda that looks firmly into the future.

Governor Rosselló signs Public Energy Policy Law

San Juan – Governor Ricardo Rosselló Nevares signed today the law that will establish the public energy policy of Puerto Rico and which requires the progressive elimination of the use of fossil fuels as a source of power generation.
To this end, the law establishes a new timeline for the implementation of renewable energy on the island: the elimination of 20 percent of fossil fuels by 2022; 40 percent by 2025; 60 percent by 2040; and 100 percent renewable energy by the year 2050.

Governor of Puerto Rico requests Congress to help build a more resilient Puerto Rico

(November 14, 2017 – Washington, DC) The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, participated in hearings at both chambers of the United States Congress where he called on Congress to approve an emergency supplemental legislation for the Island.

The legislation, as explained by the governor, should provide equal treatment for the American citizens residing in Puerto Rico compared to what any state in the United States would expect if they experienced a similar level of devastation after the passage of Hurricane Maria.

(November 13, 2017 – Washington, DC) "We are very pleased with the decision issued today by Judge Laura Taylor Swain, since it reiterates our position regarding the limit of power of the Financial Oversight and Management Board. Since the first day, we have been clear in terms of the powers that the Board has and those it does not have. It is clear that the Financial Oversight and Management Board does not have the power to take full control of the Government or its instrumentalities.

Puerto Rico Governor appoints newest members of pro-statehood Democracy Commission

(July 10, 2017 - Washington, DC) Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rosselló today appointed former Governor Luis Fortuño (R), two-star General Félix Santoni (R) and National Committeewoman Zoraida Fonalledas (R) to the pro-statehood Democracy Commission. Puerto Rico's statehood push follows a political status plebiscite in which 97% of the voters supported joining the Union as its 51st state.
