Governor Rosselló meets with US House and Senate Democratic leaders
(January 9, 2018 – Washington, DC) Continuing his efforts in the federal capital, the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosselló, met today with Representative Joseph Crowley (D-NY), leader of the Democratic Caucus of the United States House of Representatives.
Later, the governor held a meeting with the leader of the Democratic minority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
Rosselló and Crowley discussed the need for Puerto Rico to receive equal treatment to other jurisdictions—which have suffered the impact of natural disasters—through the disaster supplemental aid bill.
Crowley also expressed his interest in visiting the Island with a bipartisan congressional delegation to evaluate the damages caused by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Likewise, Senator Schumer and Governor Rosselló discussed the importance of fair treatment for Puerto Rico during the recovery process.
Earlier, the governor met with the resident commissioner, Jennifer González, and the members of the Puerto Rico Statehood Commission, as well as with Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) of the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP).
